Giorgio Moroder - Artist Talk

Conference, Panel

Before his show at the Club of the Rockhal on 10 July 2014, the remarkably multi-faceted artist and producer Giorgio Moroder will hold an exclusive Artist Talk at Music & Resources Rockhal hosted by Luxembourg actress and film producer Désirée Nosbusch.

The artist and composer extraordinaire, who’s considered to be one of the pioneers of disco and dance music, will reveal the different steps of his prolific career in the music business. From his collaborations with Donna Summer, David Bowie, Blondie and, more recently, Daft Punk to his time at the head of Oasis Records and Musicland Studios, Giorgio Moroder will outline a fascinating career that encompasses both artistic creation and creative entrepreneurship. Moreover, he will share his thoughts on electronic dance music and the evolution of synthesizers, as well as his very personal view on today’s music business before answering the questions of the public.

About Giorgio Moroder :

Italian-born Giorgio Moroder started his musical career back in the 1960s. Ever since, he has proven to be a remarkable composer and producer, collaborating with the likes of Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, Roger Daltrey, Janet Jackson, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie or Blondie. Among his hit singles are Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" and "I Feel Love", Irene Cara's "Flashdance (What a Feeling!)", David Bowie's "Putting Out the Fire" and Blondie's "Call Me". More recently, he worked with Daft Punk on their song “Giorgio by Moroder” featured on the electronic artists’ latest album Random Access Memory. Furthermore, Giorgio Moroder has signed many film scores, including Academy Award winning feature films Midnight Express, Flashdance and Top Gun, but also blockbusters such as Scarface or Rambo III. Besides being a prolific composer, Giorgio has also been a successful entrepreneur, founding the label Oasis Records and the Musicland Studios in the 1970, which welcomed artists such as the Electric Light Orchestra, Queen or Led Zeppelin. In the past years, Giorgio has been active in the world of art, with his creations involving computer-enhanced imagery and photography, and cinematography, as he restored Fritz Lang's classic silent film, Metropolis, enhancing it with beautiful music in the process. Now, he is touring the world with his very personal DJ set, including classic hits and most recent compositions.
