Ableton Live (Part II - Intermediate)Workshop
Ableton Live is a flexible, powerful yet intuitive program for making and producing music, both at home or in the studio with a computer as well as with other instruments and groups of musicians on stage and in live situations.
Please note that the exact same workshop will also be held on the day before, Saturday June 16!
This intermediate workshop, held by product specialist and electronic music producer Andri Soren (sonøren), will take you deeper in the creative possibilities of Ableton Live by giving a more extensive overview of topics like external controller use, virtual instruments integration, Max for Live and mixing techniques. Furthermore Andri will answer your questions and show some practical examples and applications of how you can use Ableton in the studio and live.
Live has recently been updated to version 10. New features related to multi-clip editing, multi-track grouping and navigation will be covered, as well as an in-depth look at the new instrument wavetable and the new effect units such as Echo. For those using Ableton Live regularly, changes to the engine (64-bit architecture) will also be discussed.

Rocklab is providing each participant with a computer equipped with Ableton Live. As this is an intermediate workshop, participants should have a basic knowledge of Ableton (check out Ableton Live - Part I).

About Andri Søren:
Andri Søren performs and produces music, spanning the genres from house and techno to soundtracks and soundscapes, going in-between bright, low-tempo synthpop to dark, driving electro and dark, lush ambient electronica as sonoren. Of Icelandic/Scottish origin, Andri is currently based in Brussels; the vibrant, chaotic and contradictory capital of Europe and Belgium, where he is busy organising club nights and concerts as well as performing and producing. Performances are often completely improvised, based on an ever-developing live set into which years of synth-hunting, techniques and ideas have gone. Learning to play the piano and the violin from an early age, and once a tenor in a choir, the impulse behind live performances are to enjoy as much as possible the possibilities of improvisation and experimentation, employing the incredible versatility of ‘digital’ performing techniques and tools such as step-sequencers and modulation automation together with the analogue through the playing and performing of various instruments; sampled, synthesised, or sung. It is the moment of making, of creating which is key. Andri has performed at venues across Europe, including Iceland Airwaves, Beursschouwburg in Brussels and will speak at TEDx on the 14th of March. He also teaches music performance and production, and is a product specialist endorsed by Ableton and has a popular Youtube channel. Lastly he is a co-founder of FTRSND, a collective of like-minded musicians located at the AB in Brussels, working together on curating, promoting and sharing good music.
