Since its first edition in 2010, the Screaming Fields Festival, organized by Rocklab, has become the yearly launch pad for young and talented bands and musicians from Luxembourg.

Launch pad?

In June and July, the 8 selected bands and artists have benefited from special preparation packages developed by Rocklab: specific workshops (vocals, home recording techniques), meetings where the bands and artists got insight into some technical essentials (stage plot, tech rider), author's rights, and communication tools and strategies (social media), as well as interview sessions at radio 100,7. The preparation sessions were rounded off by a live rehearsal at the Club of the Rockhal, during which newcomers had the chance to get familiar with a professional venue and learn how to handle their on-stage monitor sound, whereas the advanced ones worked on their live performance and the development of their live set. On the day of the festival, several prizes awaited the final winners, who all received further artist support packages put together by Rocklab and the partners of the event.

Screaming Fields Song Contest

The third edition of the Screaming Fields Song Contest, organized by Rocklab, in partnership with Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes, was met with incredible enthusiasm by young local up-and-coming songwriters, MCs and beatmakers. The jury, composed of the partners of the contest as well as musicians and people active in the local music scene, had no easy task choosing the final winner among the 14 candidates.

In the end, Francis of Delirium, the project led by young Jana Bahrich, convinced the jury with subtle lyrics and a careful composition, rendering a remarkable interpretation of the contest's topic while sticking to her own sound, which mixes folk with grunge influences.

As a happy winner of an Artist Package offered by Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes and put together by Rocklab, Francis of Delirium will now be looking forward to the production of her track at Rockhalstudio in autumn in order to transform her initial idea into a finished song. A video shoot will follow, before the song will be locally broadcast and released during a concert at the Rockhal in early 2020. For those who can't wait, Francis of Delirium will already be performing live at the Rockhal on October 17, during the Rock de Rack (www.rockderack.lu) event organized by Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes.

During the award ceremony on July 13th, in the frame of the Screaming Fields Festival, minister Taina Bofferding congratulated the young artists, as well as the other finalists, Nicool and Yadson. “It’s thanks to your talent, that we meet here today, on stage at the Rockhal. Who would have thought that rock music and the subject of equality could harmonize so well?” asked the minister and added: “It confirms that gender equality matters to all of us, young and less young, women and me.”
