Are you an experienced singer and would like to work on your live performance and skills? Have you ever wondered how it would feel to perform live on stage, backed by a professional band? Then Vocal Performance might just be what you need! In collaboration with INECC Luxembourg, Rocklab is happy to bring you this extensive course dedicated to the art of vocal live performance.

 

The course will provide you with an all-around toolbox in order to prepare and be prepared for a live performance on stage. During the course, held by local vocalist Claire Parsons, you will have the chance to work and sing with a professional band. The workshop will conclude with a live concert, where you will be performing with this same band on stage. The whole package will be complemented by two masterclasses held by renowned international vocal coaches Angie Berthias and David Féron.

 

Dedicated to confirmed singers only. Participants will be selected via audition. (check the dates below)

-       detailed and practical input for a live performance situation

-       the importance of voice caring and training before a show

-       microphone technique

-       body posture and language on stage

-       how to be prepared for a soundcheck

-       practical work and live performance with a professional band

-       insights into live recording

Overview:

-       10 regular sessions with Claire Parsons

-       1 pop-rock vocal masterclass with Angie Berthias (1 weekend)

-       1 extreme vocal masterclass with David Féron (1 weekend)

-       1 stage rehearsal

-       1 final show at the Floor of the Rockhal

When & Where: Tuesday from 19h30 to 21h30, starting 9 October 2018 for 10 hands-on sessions at Rocklab, two masterclasses, a stage rehearsal and a final concert at Rockhal

Who is Claire Parsons?

Claire Parsons is a Luxembourgish jazz singer of English origin. She got her bachelors degree in jazz vocals at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under the supervision of the internationally renowned Belgian jazz singer David Linx. She plays and composes in various bands such as the Claire Parsons Quartet, Tadpole Evolution, Aishinka or Them Lights to name but a few. Her still young career has allowed her to play on multiple international and national stages and festivals such as Jazz à Verviers, Brussels Jazz Marathon, Festival Zikametz in Metz, Dockville Festival in Hamburg, Rock Um Knuedler, Food For Your Senses Festival and Sonic Visions amongst others.

Who is Angie Berthias?

Angie Berthias, professional vocalist and vocal coach for the last 20 years, has worked with international artists as a backing vocalist, vocal arranger, choir director and vocal coach. Angie has worked with artists such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Johnny Halliday or Phil Collins. In addition, Angie acts as a vocal coach for a diversity of musicals (Grease, Dirty Dancing, Bodyguard) and The Voice – France. Besides live performances, studio sessions, and coaching, Angie takes time to teach masterclasses, workshops and private lessons and lends her know-how as well as her voice to ads, motion picture soundtracks, album backing vocals, and musical projects throughout the world.

Who is David Féron?

David Féron has been the vocalist for over a decade for metal band Nothing, with which he played over 1500 shows. Over the years and with scientific rigour, he has developed a thoughtful and pragmatic approach towards the art of saturated vocals, helping artists from all genres to learn the art of growling, screaming and shouts without damaging their vocal chords. His scientific method has even been presented in front of the International Congress of Vocal teachers. Today, David holds masterclasses on a regular basis all over France and is internationally known as an expert for extreme and saturated singing and has worked with singers, comedians, professionals as well as amateur performers.
