Francis of Delirium - Winner of the Screaming Fields Song Contest
The third edition of the Screaming Fields Song Contest, organized by Rocklab, in partnership with Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes, was met with incredible enthusiasm by young local up-and-coming songwriters, MCs and beatmakers. The jury, composed of the partners of the contest as well as musicians and people active in the local music scene, had no easy task choosing the final winner among the 14 candidates.
In the end, Francis of Delirium, the project led by young Jana Bahrich, convinced the jury with subtle lyrics and a careful composition, rendering a remarkable interpretation of the contest's topic while sticking to her own sound, which mixes folk with grunge influences.
As a happy winner of an Artist Package offered by Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes and put together by Rocklab, Francis of Delirium will now be looking forward to the production of her track at Rockhalstudio in autumn in order to transform her initial idea into a finished song. A video shoot will follow, before the song will be locally broadcast and released during a concert at the Rockhal in early 2020. For those who can't wait, Francis of Delirium will already be performing live at the Rockhal on October 17, during the Rock de Rack (www.rockderack.lu) event organized by Ministère de l'Egalité entre les femmes et les hommes.
During the award ceremony on July 13th, in the frame of the Screaming Fields Festival, minister Taina Bofferding congratulated the young artists, as well as the other finalists, Nicool and Yadson. “It’s thanks to your talent, that we meet here today, on stage at the Rockhal. Who would have thought that rock music and the subject of equality could harmonize so well?” asked the minister and added: “It confirms that gender equality matters to all of us, young and less young, women and me.”
